Emily Herken, Internal Auditor

“I thoroughly enjoy assisting other Exchange  Bank officers and colleagues in everything I do to make sure we are providing the best solutions for our customers and that our products, services and procedures all comply with governmental regulations and financial standards.  The work that I perform is typically conducted in the background, so to speak.  However, I always look forward to frequent opportunities to interact directly with customers, as well as staff, as this is a great way to monitor the customer experience and understand ways in which we can consistently strive to exceed expectations regarding our offerings.”

Emily began her banking career as a Loan Clerk in 1996.  She later was employed by Commerce Bank as a Senior Teller from 1999 to 2004, and for a time as a Staff Accountant for Demaranville & Kramer CPA’s.  She then served as a Staff Accountant at Armed Forces Bank in Leavenworth until joining Exchange Bank as a Credit Analyst in 2008.  In 2010, she took on the additional role of Internal Auditor for Exchange.  Her principal responsibilities involve analyzing credits for the Bank’s loan officers, tracking financial statements, working with tax returns and preparing multiple reports.  The internal auditing component of her role ensures the Bank’s operations are performed in total compliance with regulatory mandates and guidelines.  Her combined banking and accounting experience is a big plus when it comes to effectively carrying out the rigorous and stringent aspects of her daily functions.  Emily is a Leavenworth native and a graduate of the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 2003.
